What has been the best part of being in this industry?

Working and collaborating with passionate, dedicated, and resilient people. The cannabis industry isn't easy or for the faint of heart. But as a result, the community is made up of so many inspiring, determined, and talented people. That energy and passion support me through happy and hard times. I've also loved being able to reciprocate that through helping mentor others, supporting their professional development and goals.

What has been the most challenging?

The role that marketing plays in the cannabis industry is valued but challenging. There are, of course, all of the regulatory restrictions that hinder how cannabis can be marketed in comparison to other consumer industries. But more so, when businesses don't have access to capital or cannot achieve/sustain profitability, investment in marketing is often cut. Brand building takes time and financing, and given all of the challenges cannabis companies face, many are unable to sustain marketing efforts. That impacts all of us who work in marketing, but we're a creative and scrappy bunch who rise to these challenges!

How has developing a community of other women in cannabis impacted you?

It's been so fortifying and fulfilling! Most of the relationships that have anchored me to the cannabis space have been women. We prop each other up, make connections, share resources, and have a damn good time together. That inclusivity and support are priceless.
